Common Name: Soft-flowered Epidendrum Orchid
Native to: Ecuador, Peru. Epidendrum suavis grows as a terrestrial plant on brush-covered slopes and disturbed areas on west-facing mountains. This species is found between 1600 and 3500 meters in elevation.
Plant Size: Large. Epidendrum suavis has reed-like stems that develop branches with time.
Flower Size: 0.75 inches (2 cm)
Flower Description: The small flowers have a thin texture. Epidendrum suavis produces a branched terminal inflorescence that produces up to twelve flowers on the apical stems and up to eight flowers on the side branches. The flowers are fragrant and open at the same time.
Bloom Season: Late Winter to Spring
Growing Temperature: Cool
Additional Information: Epidendrum suavis grows best in well-drained pots with terrestrial orchid mix. Keep evenly moist throughout the year and provide cool, humid growing conditions.
