Native to: Mexico. Epidendrum longipetalum is found growing on trees in cloud forests and oak forests along the northwestern gulf coast of Mexico in the mountains. It is found between 1700 and 2200 meters in elevation.
Plant Size: Small. The swollen stems have up to three leaves.
Flower Size: 0.75 inches (2 cm)
Flower Description: Flowers of Epidendrum longipetalum develop on an 18 inch (50 cm) long arching flower stem that develops from the tip of mature stems. Flower stems re-bloom for a number of years.
Bloom Season: Late Winter
Growing Temperature: Cool
Additional Information: Do not cut off the flower stem after the flowers fade because it can produce flowers for a number of years.
