Common Name: Night-scented Epidendrum
Native to: Tropical America. Epidendrum nocturnum is one of the most widespread orchid species. It is found growing mostly on trees in wet mountainous forests.
Plant Size: Large. Epidendrum nocturnum has reed-like stems and has a few leathery leaves spaced along the stem.
Flower Size: Up to 5 inches (13.5 cm). Flower and plant size is variable.
Flower Description: The flowers of Epidendrum nocturnum are large and have narrow petals and sepals. Flowers open over an extended period of time. Epidendrum nocturnum has a sweet, pleasant fragrance at night. Mature pseudobulbs produce terminal flower stems that can persist and produce flowers for many flower seasons.
