Common Name: Lla Epidendrum
Native to: Ecuador. Epidendrum ilense grows as a terrestrial orchid in hot, wet tropical forests below 700 meters in elevation. The common name is derived from a mountain range on which the plants were first discovered.
Plant Size: Medium. The plants of Epidendrum ilense produce slender, upright stems that have many leaves.
Flower Size: 1.25 inches (3.5 cm)
Flower Description: Epidendrum ilense produces several white flowers on a 12 inch (30 cm) long flower stem. Flowers are produced for many years on one flower stem. The white flowers are showy and have an attractive frilly lip.
Bloom Season: Blooms throughout the year.
Growing Temperature: Warm
Additional Information: Do not cut the flower stem after the flowers fade since flowers may be produced on the same stem for a number of years. Grow in a pot with high-quality terrestrial orchid mix. Epidendrum ilense needs warmth, humidity, and even water throughout the year.
