Common Name: Insignificant Epidendrum
Native to: Mexico. Epidendrum miserum has been found growing on trees in the Mexican states of Jalisco, Oaxaca, Michoacan, and Morelos. It grows from 1300 to 2000 meters in elevation.
Plant Size: Small. Epidendrum miserum forms mats on tree branches. This species has small, oval pseudobulbs that bear three leaves. It is deciduous and the leaves turn yellow and fall off in Autumn.
Flower Size: 0.5 inches (1.2 cm)
Flower Description: Flowers are small but in proportion to the plants and have a light fragrance. Usually each flower stem has between two and six flowers.
Bloom Season: Mid-Winter
Growing Temperature: Warm to Cool
Additional Information: Epidendrum miserum is one of the few deciduous species. Grow mounted on cork or tree fern. Provide ample water and fertilizer during periods of active growth and reduce water during the fall and winter months. The plant blooms while it is dormant.
