Epidendrum pastoense
Common Name: Pasto Epidendrum OrchidNative to: Columbia and Ecuador. Epidendrum pastoense is native to the southern area of Columbia near the Ecuadorian border. It grows in dripping wet cloud forests between 2800 and 3200 meters in elevation. It grows as a terrestrial plant among bushes and shrubs.
Plant Size: Large. The plants have tall, upright stems that are reed-like in appearance. The stems develop branches with age.
Flower Size: 1 inch (2.5 cm)
Flower Description: The flowers of Epidendrum pastoense are formed on a terminal inflorescence that produces up to twelve flowers.

Additional Information: Epidendrum pastoense was named after a city that is in southern Columbia. The tall stems need support as the plant tends to be top heavy. In nature, the plants are almost always found growing among shrubs that support the stems.
