Common Name: Pfavi's Epidendrum
Native to: Costa Rica. Epidendrum pfavii grows on trees in rain forests.
Plant Size: Large. Epidendrum pfavii has tall, leafy stems that can grow more than 48 inches (120 cm) in height.
Flower Size: 1.5 inches (3.75 cm)
Flower Description: Epidendrum pfavii has vibrant pink and purple flowers with a contrasting white lip. The flowers are produced on terminal flower stems that develop on mature canes. Flower stems have many flowers and the stems occasionally branch. Flower stems persist and produce flowers for several seasons.

Additional Information: Epidendrum pfavii was named after Dr. Pfavi who was an orchid collector from Switzerland who worked in Central America during the 1800's. Do not cut the flower stem after the last flower fades because each stem can produce flowers for a number of years. Grow mounted on cork or grow in a pot or slatted basket. Provide water and fertilizer throughout the year. The plants are attractive when in bloom and make impressive specimens with age.
