Common Name: Jamaican Epidendrum
Native to: Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. Epidendrum jamaicense grows on trees in warm, humid forests throughout the Caribbean region.
Plant Size: Large. Epidendrum jamaicense has pendulous or rambling stems that branch occasionally. Leaves are thin.
Flower Size: 1 inch (2.5 cm)
Flower Description: The flowers of Epidendrum jamaicense are produced on a short, drooping inflorescence that develops a the tip of mature stems. Flowers open over a period of time for an extended bloom season. Fragrant.
Bloom Season: Spring
Growing Temperature: Warm
Additional Information: Grow mounted on cork bark or grow in slatted baskets. Hang the plant to let the wandering stems have the room they desire. Provide warm Cattleya growing conditions. Epidendrum jamaicense was first discovered in the 1850's and has many synonyms.
