Native to: Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela. Epidendrum longiflorum prefers dripping wet mountain forests. This species is very versatile and can grow on trees, rocks, or on the forests floor between 1000 and 3000 meters.
Plant Size: Large. Epidendrum longiflorum has upright reed-like stems with many leaves.
Flower Size: 4 inches (10 cm)
Flower Description: The large flowers have narrow floral segments and are spidery in appearance. A 16 inch (40 cm) unbranched flower stem develops at the tip of maturing growths in the Fall. Fragrant.

Growing Temperature: Warm to Cool
Additional Information: Epidendrum longiflorum gets to be a large specimen with age and is best grown in pots. Use some gravel in the bottom to keep the plants from becoming top heavy and falling over as the growing media dries. Provide even moisture during the year.
