Common Name: Bright Epidendrum
Native to: Mexico, Belize, Guatemala. Epidendrum nitens grows on oak trees in oak and mixed oak-pine forests between 900 and 2100 meters in elevation. In Mexico, this species is found in the state of Oaxaca.
Plant Size: Small. Epidendrum nitens has short, reed-like stems.
Flower Size: 1 inch (2.5 cm)
Flower Description: The small flowers are borne on a short terminal infloresence. Each growth produces only a few flowers that open one after the other.

Growing Temperature: Warm to Cool
Additional Information: Grow this uncommon species mounted on cork bark or tree fern plaques. Provide even moisture and fertilizer throughout the year. Epidendrum nitens was first described in 1866.
