Common Name: Marbled Epidendrum
Native to: Mexico. Epidendrum marmoratum is native to the Mexican states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Guerrero on Pacific-facing slopes. This species prefers oak-pine forests and grows on trees between 1500 and 1700 meters in elevation.
Plant Size: Small. Epidendrum marmoratum has small, cylindrical pseudobulbs that have a reddish or purplish flush of color. Each pseudobulb has a few leathery leaves.
Flower Size: 1.25 inches (3 cm)
Flower Description: Flowers are produced on a tall, arching inflorescence that has a great number of tightly spaced flowers. The flowers open over an extended period of time.
Bloom Season: Spring
Growing Temperature: Cool to Warm
Additional Information: Epidendrum marmoratum prefers cool nights. A cool spot in a Cattleya greenhouse is usually acceptable. Grow mounted on cork bark or tree fern or in a small pot with coarse, open potting media.
