Common Name: Hugo Medina's Epidendrum
Native to: Ecuador. Epidendrum hugomedinae is found growing on trees in the southeastern corner of Ecuador near 1600 meters in elevation.
Plant Size: Small. The stems of Epidendrum hugomedinae are reed-like and have many narrow leaves.
Flower Size: Small (about 1 cm)
Flower Description: The flowers of Epidendrum hugomedinae in great quantity on an arching flower stem that bears flowers for many years. Flowers are fragrant during the middle of the day.
Bloom Season: Fall
Growing Temperature: Warm to Cool
Additional Information: Epidendrum hugomedinae is named after Hugo Medina who is a well-respected collector of Ecuadorian orchid species and who was the first to discover this species growing in the wild. Grow mounted on cork bark, tree fern, or in pots. Provide standard Cattleya orchid growing conditions.
