Common Name: False Nocturnum Epidendrum
Native to: Ecuador, Columbia. Epidendrum pseudonocturnum is found in the norther part of Ecuador and possibly in the southernmost portion of Columbia. Distribution data is somewhat sketchy and inconclusive at this time. This species grows on disturbed slopes as a terrestrial plant or trees at low elevation. It grows between 250 and 800 meters of elevation.
Plant Size: Small to Medium. Epidendrum pseudonocturnum has upright, fleshy stems with up to eight leaves.
Flower Size: 2.5 inches (6 cm)
Flower Description: The flowers of Epidendrum pseudonocturnum are similar to those of Epidendrum nocturnum. Flowers are produced on a terminal inflorescence that produces flowers for many years.
Bloom Season: Winter
Growing Temperature: Warm
Additional Information: Epidendrum pseudonocturnum is closely related to Epidendrum nocturnum but differs in stem and flower details. Grow on cork or in pots with terrestrial orchid mix. It prefers warm, humid environments.
