Common Name: Long-stemmed Epidendrum
Native to: Mexico. Epidendrum longicaule has only been found growing in the Mexican state of Jalisco. It grows on rocks on cliffs or near streams on boulders between 800 to 1500 meters.
Plant Size: Small. The stems of Epidendrum longicaule have up to six green leaves. Sometimes plants produce keikis on the oldest stems.
Flower Size: 0.75 inches (1.75 cm)
Flower Description: Epidendrum longicaule produces about 15 flowers on an elongated flower stem. The flowers open over long period of time and are long-lasting.
Bloom Season: Summer to Fall
Growing Temperature: Warm
Additional Information: Grow mounted on cork or grow in a pot with an open, free-draining media. Provide even water throughout the year. Epidendrum longicaule is easy to propagate from immature plants that form on old stems cut them from the mother plant once they have developed three pseudobulbs and pot in a seedling orchid mix.
