Euchile citrina

Native to: Native to Mexico. Euchile citrina grows on trees in mixed oak-pine forests in central and southern Mexico.

Plant Size: Small. The plants are compact and have small, tightly clustered pseudobulbs with 2 to 4 grayish-green leaves that grow to 8 inches (15 cm) long. The plants grow in a pendant fashion.

Flower Size: 3.5 inches (8.5 cm).

Flower Description: The flowers of Euchile citrina are citron yellow and fragrant. One or two flowers are produced on an 8 inch (20 cm) long pendant inflorescence.

Bloom Season: Spring to Early Summer

Growing Temperature: Warm to Cool

Additional Information: Euchile citrina needs to be grown mounted on cork bark, tree fern, or driftwood. Provide ample water and fertilizer during periods of active growth and give the plants a dry winter rest period. Resume water when the plants begin to show active growth in the spring.
