Native to: Brazil. Encyclia kundergraeberi grows on small trees in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais between 800 and 1000 meters in elevation.
Plant Size: Small. The cone-shaped pseudobulbs of Encyclia kundergraeberi have two very long leaves. Pseudobulbs are not tightly clustered and have a short rhizome that connects them.
Flower Size: 1 inch (2.5 cm)
Flower Description: Up to twelve small flowers are produced on an unbranched flower stem that grows to 18 inches (45 cm) in height. Occasionally, the flower stem is branched.
Bloom Season: Spring (November or December in Brazil)
Growing Temperature: Cool to Warm (adaptable)
Additional Information: Encyclia kundergraeberi was named after the man who collected the first specimen. This species is very similar to Encyclia seidelii but differs in some floral characteristics and prefers to grow on trees rather than terrestrially. Grow mounted on cork bark. Due to its rambling nature provide a slightly larger mount. Also, it may be grown in slatted baskets. Provide Cattleya light and humidity. It tolerates a wide range of temperatures.
