Native to: Mexico, Guatemala. Encyclia hanburyi is usually found growing as a terrestrial orchid in clay soil in oak-pine woodlands. Occasionally it is found growing on trees and rocks and is found between 1200 and 1800 meters in elevation.
Plant Size: Medium. The tightly-clustered, cone-shaped pseudobulbs of Encyclia hanburyi have one or two sword-shaped leaves.
Flower Size: 2 inches (5 cm)
Flower Description: The flowers are dark rose in color. Numerous flowers are produced on a 40 inch (1 m) simple or branched inflorescence.

Growing Temperature: Warm
Additional Information: This is one of the few terrestrial species in the Encyclia genus. Although terrestrial, they can be grown in an open potting media in pots or mounted on cork or wood. Provide warm Cattleya growing conditions.
