Common Name: Lovely Encyclia Orchid
Native to: Native to Belize to Panama. Also, it has been reported growing wild in the Mexican states of Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Quintana Roo. Encyclia amanda grows at low elevation (below 1000 meters) in hot, tropical forests.
Plant Size: Small to Medium. Encyclia amanda has rough, pear-shaped pseudobulbs and one or two broad, tongue-shaped leaves.
Flower Size: Small. 0.5 to 0.75 inches (1.25 to 2 cm)
Flower Description: Flowers are small and attractive and resemble Encyclia chloroleuca. The flower spike emerges from maturing or mature pseudobulbs and bears 4 or 5 flowers.
Bloom Season: Winter
Growing Temperature: Intermediate.
Additional Information: This species may be a synonym for Encyclia chloroleuca. Grow mounted on cork bark or in a slatted basket. Clay or plastic pots may work if the drainage is good and they do not hold too much moisture. Grow under standard Cattleya orchid conditions.
