Barkeria palmeri
Common Name: Palmers Barkeria
Native to: Mexico. Barkeria palmeri has been found growing in the Mexican states of Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit, and Sinaloa on the west coast from sea level to 1300 meters. They grow on trees and twigs in tropical deciduous or semi-deciduous forests in humid areas.
Plant Description: Barkeria palmeri has reed-like stems with multiple nodes and few to several leaves. Stems grow to 12 inches (30 cm)
Flower Size: 1 inch (2-3 cm)
Flower Description: Barkeria palmeri is best known for its ability to produce up to 100 flowers on a branched inflorescence. Flower petals and sepals are rosy lilac and has a white lip with interesting markings.

Temperature: Intermediate to Warm
Additional Information: Grow Barkeria palmeri mounted on cork bark or tree fern or on sticks. This species goes dormant and loses its leaves during the winter. Reduce watering when the plant is leafless but do not let it become shriveled. This species needs bright light and good air circulation.
Barkeria palmeri was originally described as coming from Cuba. However, it has not been found growing there in recent times and it is believed that the original location of the species was an error.
